2011 Update…

The Super Late Model is slowly coming along. There will be a lot of work going on over the next few months. It’s looking like plans are to go racing in late June early July for about 10 to 12 races at Selinsgrove Speedway. No word on if there are any plans to race at Central PA Speedway’s special shows or any of the end of year shows.

Kevin Hartnett to victory lane for the first time at Penn Can Speedway

I got a e-mail from Tara this morning with great news. Kevin took home the win last night (5-7-2010) at Penn Can Speedway. I’m sure this one was a win for his Mom on this Mother’s Day Weekend. Tara said he ruled the night winning both his heat race and the feature. I understand Kevin will be running Penn Can this year as much as possible. If you want to see some good dirt track racing head north to Penn Can some Friday night.

Redline Speedway Press Release:

Apparently Redline wasn’t meant to re-open. With buyers Vern Wasson, Kyle Lefelhoc and Carol Houssock just days away from closing on the purchase of Redline Speedway, unforeseen circumstances came to fruition. The 11th hour surprise has dashed the hopes the trio had for bringing life back to the Granville Summit, PA racetrack.

“We can’t make the major commitment we planned with major unresolved issues hanging over our heads,” said Wasson. “We all entered this deal in good faith and the three of us were really looking forward to 2010 at Redline,” added Houssock.

Being so close to sealing the deal, the news comes as a terrible blow to all three partners. “We’ve all been over there, planning our prep work, we had staff lined up, and we were set to go next month,” said Lefelhoc.

The partners, while blind-sighted by this turn of events, said this is neither their fault nor the Matthews family, current owners of the property. “Things happen, but when we were unable to resolve some pertinent issues we had no choice but to cancel the deal,” Wasson added.

Since day one the trio has made it clear they were engaging in a business proposition. “We were prepared to take some risks on this venture, but we are not able to proceed,” said Wasson. “Our concern now is that the race teams that had planned to run at Redline can alter their plans on Friday nights, Lefelhoc added.”

Wasson, Lefelhoc and Houssock extend apologies to everyone they would have worked with at Redline.

This has got to be a shock to a lot of the teams planning on racing Redline this year.

See Redline Raceway Schedule is Out…

Looks like Redline Raceway plans on running 13 Modified races in 2010. I might try and make it up to watch one or two. Would like to at least make it to the 50 lapper in September. If they promote this show and have a good payout it could draw a good field. The only problem I see is it’s the night before the 76′er at Grandview Speedway. There may not be a lot of guys from the south willing to chance crashing their car the night before the 76′er.

I would like to wish all the readers out there in computerland A Happy New Year. I was over at the garage the other day and got a surprise. Sitting there in the middle of the floor was a dirt late model. I understand this is a Kline Motorsports adventure back into late model racing. Most likely they will be racing at Selinsgrove Speedway and special shows, sometime in the near future.

I would like to wish all of you out there in computer race land A Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. All the good racers will be looking for Santa to show up at the garage this year! The car, trailer, and all the spare parts that won’t be needed are gone, that is except for the motor. So if someone you know has a big block on their list, and you are looking for one, give Dave a call.

New Egypt Flea Market

The crew will be at the New Egypt Flea Market on Saturday November the 21st selling a lot of good modified parts. There will be some good deals to be had. Sort of sounds like the last post. Those who were at Grandview know about the great deals. The car is sold, it went out the garage door last night. The motor is still for sale. If anyone out there is looking for a good big block, without having to mortgage their house to get it, look up the guys at New Eygpt or leave a comment on here.

Hagerstown Octoberfest 350…

Just the fact that I’m writing this on Sunday afternoon should tell you something. We started the weekend out in a big hole with a draw of 95 putting Shawn last in his heat. We had steering problems all day, and even changed out the power steering pump to no avail. With the car not turning Shawn couldn’t race into the turns. The long day ended with finishing last in the consi and towing home very late last night. We are done racing as far as I know.
