Veteran Modified Driver Hartnett joins Sitler Kline Racing for 2008 Season

March 20, 2008

When the Generation II Construction number 55 takes to the track for the 2008 race season a new face will be behind the wheel. Shawn Reimert informed the owners that he would not be returning to race with the team on Friday nights. With the seat empty, they turned their attention to finding a driver who fit into their 2008 race plans. Their first choice, Kevin Hartnett, had expressed interest in driving the 55 in the past. Kevin was contacted and he will be that new face behind the wheel on Friday nights. The Team plans onĀ  returning to Redline Raceway on Friday nights. With Kevin residing in Bailey Corners where Redline Raceway is located he was the ideal fit for the team. Kevin has 6 wins at Big Diamond Raceway and 7 wins at Grandview Speedway. His experience as a veteran modified driver will enable the team to be competitive when the green flag flies. Further information will be available on sitlerklineracing.5u.com in the next few weeks.

The Owners and the whole 55 Team would like to wish Shawn the best of luck in his furture racing endevors.

Crate Divisions…

March 7, 2008

When all the talk of crate motors started I thought, what a great idea. Crate motors will lower the high cost of motors and eliminate any cheating going on in the sport. Crate motors will level the playing field, team racing knowledge, driver talent etc. will play a larger roll than money. Wasn’t that the idea behind crate motors, to lower the cost of racing for the racers and level the playing field? How did it somehow become a way to lower the payout to racers to that of a support division. If tracks use crates as another support division then nothing changed. The original problem is still there, all that happened was a high cost support division with bad pay. Unfortunately tracks looked at crates as a way to increase their bottom line and not as a way to improve racing at their track. They killed one more golden goose. Crates shouldn’t have been anything more than a rule change to bolster current divisions by lowering the cost of racing and leveling the playing field. Instead they are being used to replace higher paying divisions and passing them off as the real thing to new race fans. What’s going to happen when these fans figure it out.
